Senior-to-Senior
Volunteers Making a Difference
What a volunteer does:
Volunteers are a bridge between the community and the environment of seniors
who may be restricted physically and/or emotionally.
- Volunteers visit with one to two clients for at least one hour per
week.
- Through extensive training volunteers learn about the aging process,
sharpen communication and counseling skills, and discover community
resources which target seniors.
- Attend supervision meetings and additional training as available.
- Agree to maintain STS client records and program paperwork as instructed.
- Commit to a volunteer term of at least six months. Most people like
it so much they stay a lot longer than six months.
- Commit to following STS ethical guidelines.
How a volunteer benefits:
- Facilitates increased self worth through an altruistic endeavor.
- Studies reveal that volunteer workers live longer.
- STS provides the opportunity for volunteers to enhance their personal
growth and mastery of new skills.
- Volunteers help their clients begin a self-healing journey.
- Volunteers are provided on-going support, training and supervision.
- Mileage is reimbursed by RSVP and Compass Health.
- Expand social and community awareness and contact.
