Meet Our Keynote

Previously named one of “The 50 Funniest People Right Now” by Rolling Stone, Aparna Nancherla is officially a very funny person. With a long line of acting and writing credits to her name, as a comic, Nancherla has performed standup routines on the road to U.S. and international audiences; on the evening talk show circuit with hosts including Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and James Corden; and even on Netflix’s “The Standups.”

However, Nancherla is not just another funny voice in the crowd. Praised by critics and fans alike for her distinctive dry, existential, and whimsical sense of humor, she is also very candid about her struggles with mental health in her work. She is credited to have “achingly poignant” insights, as noted by the Los Angeles Times in reference to her new book Unreliable Narrator: Me, Myself, and Imposter Syndrome. In addition to Nancherla’s recent book, she also hosts “The Introvert’s Survival Guide,” a new eight-part self-help interview podcast on Audible with other celebrity guests.

Nancherla’s introspective nature, willingness to be vulnerable about her mental health struggles, and her dry wit are reasons we are so excited to have her as our keynote speaker for our 7th annual gala, Building Communities of Hope.

In an evening meant to inspire, entertain, and most importantly, raise awareness and funds for our child, youth, and family programs, we couldn’t think of a better speaker for the evening.  Kicking off her portion of the program with a brief standup routine, Nancherla will then stay for an in-depth Q&A of questions submitted ahead of time by attendees. Only attendees of BCOH will be able to access the rare opportunity to ask Nancherla for her insight and perspective on mental health.
