Genoa Peer Center Thanksgiving Dinner

This year, Genoa Healthcare has generously donated to Compass Health to cover the costs of our annual Genoa Peer Center Thanksgiving Dinner. We are so thankful to everyone at Genoa who will make this dinner possible for the clients at the Peer Center - you are making the holidays just a little more joyful for all of the individuals in our community. Thank you!
The Bailey Peer Center is a recovery oriented support center for individuals with behavioral health disorders, many of whom are homeless in our community. Peer Center attendees are able to participate in groups and activities that support recovery and enhance quality of life. The Center employs a mental health clinician and peer counselors who provide support and run all activities.
In April 2002 the first prescription at Genoa Healthcare was filled in the back room of a little independent pharmacy in Renton, WA. At this time we were a clozapine management company. By working with clozapine clients Genoa discovered the special medication needs of the mental health population. Genoa learned these needs were not being met by outside pharmacies, so CEO Kevin Martyn decided to create a pharmacy that would meet the needs of the people who work hard to take care of those with mental illness.
Genoa first started opening our closed- door pharmacies in the Pacific Northwest in clinics that were in need of dedicated, specialized pharmacy services. Interest began to spread across the country as other mental health organizations and clinics learned of the services we provide. In 2003 Genoa began expanding this unique pharmacy service across the nation.
Genoa remained flexible to the many mental health delivery models across the country and developed services within their pharmacies to meet the needs of those specific models. None of their service models or pharmacies are the same. Genoa takes pride in not being a "cookie cutter" organization, and continues to seek opportunities nationwide to help mental health communities with their pharmacy services.
Genoa now provides nationwide integrated pharmacy, phlebotomy, and laboratory services. This integrated service will increase efficiencies for staff and clients, make it easier for clients to receive laboratory work, and noticeably improve care and outcomes for clients. Genoa Healthcare believes that this additional service will improve the coordination of care and further support our partners’ movement towards integrated primary and mental healthcare.
Today, Genoa operates 116 pharmacies throughout 27 states and the District of Columbia, providing services to over 130,000 clients each year. Genoa strives to be the partner and provider of choice to their agency partners and clients. Their value added services enhance the lives of the clients they serve - discover the difference that Genoa can make today!
