Expanded Community Services of Older Adults (ESCOA)

A collaborative project between Aging Adult Services, DSHS, State Hospital, Adult Family Homes and Mental Health Services  for the purpose of reintegration of persons with acute mental illness into less restrictive community settings as an alternative to continued inpatient hospitalization. Services are available to clients in Snohomish, Whatcom and Skagit counties

The ECSOA program provides counseling and behavior modification together with psychiatric medication consultation and prescriptive services in Compass Health offices as well as in Adult Family Homes and Nursing Facilities.  Training is provided to care staff to help them better understand and address persons living with mental illnesses.

The ECSOA Team  includes geriatric mental health specialists, mental health clinicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners

Acceptance into the program requires the approval by a committee of Home and Community Services.
