Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR)

The PASRR Program is a federally mandated program requiring every person referred for care to a Medicaid licensed nursing facility have a PASRR Level I screening performed by a doctor, social worker or nurse.  The Level I screening is designed to determine the presence of a serious mental illness, related condition and/or intellectual disability.  If indicators are found, the person will be referred for a PASRR Level II Evaluation.

The Level II Evaluation is conducted by a Mental Health Professional and Geriatric Specialist who will help determine the best placement setting to meet the person’s needs; and if nursing facility care is warranted, the evaluation may also make recommendations for specialized and/or mental health services needed in order to best support the person in their environment.

Compass Health provides PASRR screening in Snohomish, Skagit and Island Counties.
