Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Honoring Dr. King…
Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose work continues to challenge and inspire all Americans.
Dr. King is often remembered for his dream, but his legacy calls us to more than remembering or reflecting. It calls us to wake up—to the realities facing our communities today—and to act with courage, clarity, and compassion.
Across our nation, too many people still face barriers to healthcare, dignity, and justice. These inequities are not abstract; they are lived experiences that affect health outcomes, quality of life, and trust in our systems. Addressing them requires more than good intentions. It requires each of us, in our own roles, to ask: What can I do today to move us closer to equity?
Advancing equitable access to healthcare is not the work of one day or one person. It is ongoing work that belongs to all of us—through how we listen, how we serve, how we advocate, and how we show up for one another.
As we commemorate Dr. King’s birthday, let us honor his legacy not only by remembering his words, but by committing ourselves to action. By staying aware. By refusing to look away. And by doing what we can, individually and collectively, to help ensure that justice, dignity, and quality healthcare are realities for everyone.
