What is Camp Outside the Box?
Camp Outside the Box is a therapeutic summer day camp offered exclusively to youth enrolled in Compass Health’s WISe Program. With the support of our skilled clinical staff, campers practice social and therapeutic skills while experiencing fun, recreational activities. Daily field trips expose campers to new resources in their communities and build connections with peers and local support systems.
Who does Camp Outside the Box serve?
Camp Outside the Box is exclusively available to all youth enrolled in Compass Health’s WISe program.
Approach to program
We believe youth do best when they are connected to their community and have the opportunity to practice developing skills outside an office. Team members provide support and coaching at nearly a 1:1 ratio to youth around social interaction with peers and community members. Team members also provide behavior management and de-escalation.
Goals of Camp Outside the Box
FUN is the priority at Camp Outside the Box! Because of their behavioral health needs, many of our WISe youth would face challenges in a traditional camp, potentially leading to further isolation. The team works to provide a supportive experience that helps youth prepare for a traditional camp in the future.
