What Is LIT?
The Low Intensity Track (LIT) program is an outpatient program that allows clients to see a psychiatric provider for medication management without being enrolled in therapy.
Who does LIT serve?
LIT is for clients for whom therapy is not appropriate or those who are enrolled in therapy outside of Compass Health. This includes those who have graduated from therapy, those who don’t think therapy is for them, and those who don’t want therapy. Clients must be meeting regularly with their psychiatric provider to participate in LIT.
Approach to Care
Clients will meet with their psychiatric provider at least once every 90 days for medication management. Providers may offer some counselling beyond the focus on medication management, such as motivational interviewing, active listening, or limited Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. But this is not the primary focus of LIT. If clients decide they would benefit from more therapy, they can be re-enrolled in a program that includes access to a Clinician at any time.
Goals of LIT
The goal of LIT is to keep clients on their psychiatric medications without requiring engagement in therapy. Some medications and diagnoses are not appropriate to be managed by a PCP and require a psychiatric specialist. Not wanting to or not being able to engage in therapy should not be a barrier to medication management.
