Introducing Compass Health’s New Sequoia Site – Home to Our Child, Youth, and Family Crisis Team

On Thursday, January 23, Compass Health’s Child, Youth, and Family Crisis Team (CYFCT) celebrated the grand opening of its new home, the Sequoia site. Located in the Cordata neighborhood of Bellingham, Sequoia is designed to be a safe and welcoming gathering space for clients and families receiving care.

Sequoia was purpose-built to meet the specific needs of the CYFCT. Compass Health team members worked closely to create a central hub where clients can access in-the-moment crisis services, navigate their care journey, and achieve their treatment goals. The space was thoughtfully designed to complement the CYFCT’s approach to care, incorporating features and amenities that foster connection, collaboration, and creativity.

Key features of the Sequoia site include:

  • A coworking hub: An open-concept workspace equipped with modern technology and community areas to promote collaboration amongst team members, clients, and families.
  • Private offices: Designated spaces for confidential appointments between clinicians, clients and family members.
  • Kitchen: A large kitchen area for storing food supplies for clients, providing a quiet break space for team members, and hosting group or team-building events.
  • Outdoor trails and parks: Surrounded by acres of preserved land, Sequoia offers beautiful walking trails, picnic areas, and a playground for clients and families to enjoy.

“The Sequoia site means so much to the communities we serve and to our team,” said CYFCT Program Manager Bobbie Racine. “That’s why we dedicated so much time and effort to creating a space that feels welcoming and inviting – one that will strengthen how we serve youth and families in crisis. This is an exciting addition to our regional crisis system, and we’re incredibly proud to see it come to life.”

Compass Health’s Child, Youth, and Family Crisis Team provides crisis care to children and teens when and where they need it most – whether in their homes, schools, shelters, or juvenile courts. And of course, clients are welcome at our new facility now as well. The team serves residents of Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom counties who are 20 years old or younger and experiencing a behavioral health crisis or a pre-crisis situation requiring immediate intervention, at no cost to them or their families.

Sequoia officially opened its doors in October 2024. The project was made possible through the support of Washington State’s Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organizations (BH-ASO), which fund Compass Health’s Child, Youth, and Family Crisis Team.
