Public Health Update: Measles Cases Identified in Snohomish County and SeaTac Area 

Compass Health is sharing an important public health alert issues 1/8/2026 regarding measles cases and exposures in Snohomish County and the SeaTac area.   

Public health authorities confirmed that there were significant community exposure locations associated with current measles outbreak, with exposure dates occurring between December 27th and January 1st. While no healthcare exposure locations have been identified, public health officials anticipate the possibility of secondary cases emerging over the next one to two weeks, which is consistent with the typical measles incubation period.

What to Know About Measles:

Measles is a highly contagious viral illness. Symptoms may include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Runny nose
  • Red or watery eyes
  • These symptoms followed by a rash

If you develop symptoms consistent with measles, contact your healthcare provide immediately. Staying up to date on the MMR vaccine remains the most effective way to prevent measles.
