Youth mobile crisis teams in Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom Counties

Compass Health’s YGoTeam

YGo helps children and teens experiencing behavioral health crises by meeting them in community settings, including schools, homes, shelters or juvenile court. We provide emergency mental health care to stabilize their situation and connect them to ongoing services.

This program is available at no cost to the youth or family members.

“Why go?” Because every child who is struggling with their mental health deserves access to resources. No crisis is too small—that’s why we ask, why not go?

Service Area’s Include:

  • Whatcom County

How does this emergency mental health service help children and teens?

Family members, teachers, care providers, youth or others can contact 988 or the VOA line to speak to a mental health professional, who will make an appropriate referral and dispatch the YGo team.

YGo team members may then reach out and make plans to meet the individual to provide immediate help, de-escalate the situation and work to create a plan with the youth and their support individuals. We continue to work with children or teens to stabilize their situation over a short-term basis and then help them access long-term services including counseling or other programs.

Who can access this youth crisis mental health service?

YGo is available to any child, teen or young adult under age 20 who is physically located in Snohomish, Skagit or Whatcom Counties in Washington state.

The program is available free of charge to youth and family members.

What types of mental health crisis situations do you help with?

While experiences and behaviors can vary widely, many reach out to us when they encounter these symptoms and needs, and are not sure what to do next:

For youth:

  • I am struggling with negative thoughts and feelings
  • I’m going through a major life event and don’t know how to handle it
  • I am struggling with suicidal or dangerous thoughts
  • I need help with my substance use

For guardians or support individuals:

  • My teen is depressed and angry
  • I need help because my teen is having panic attacks
  • My child won’t go to school and cries every day
  • I’ve found my child cutting or harming themselves

No crisis is too small. We encourage children and teens struggling with their mental health to reach out—no matter what the context is. Families, guardians, and support individuals can also reach out on behalf of a youth.

Importantly, we help in pre-crisis situations. If a child or teen’s condition seems to be deteriorating, we can help intervene and prevent a more serious crisis or situation.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the professionals at 988 or via the VOA Care Crisis Line at 1-800-584-3578.

I’m a youth experiencing a crisis. Do I or my parents have to consent to receive care?

The YGo program is voluntary. Every individual who participates must agree to receive care from our treatment teams. Guardians should understand that we need their child or teen’s consent to deliver care.

For youth over the age of thirteen, they can agree to mental health and substance abuse treatment services without their parents’ knowledge or permission. Children under the age of thirteen will need a guardian’s permission.

Who is on the YGo team?

YGo offers a true behavioral health team approach, and our responders include mental health crisis clinicians and certified peer counselors. We collaborate with children and teens in crisis, along with family members and other support individuals, to develop a plan to safely move through the current situation, manage future crises, and advance toward recovery.
