Mental Health Awareness Month: Skagit County Spotlight
As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to spotlight Skagit County and the important work happening across this community.
In Skagit County, Compass Health supports approximately 1,392 clients per year, with the expertise and dedication of around 65 staff working across three primary locations. Through a combination of clinic based, intensive, and crisis response services, our teams remain closely connected to the communities they serve, expanding access to care and supporting whole person’s health every day.
Let’s take a closer look at the Compass Health sites serving Skagit County and the services offered at each location:
2nd Street
The 2nd Street site in Mount Vernon is a key, multiservice location supporting a broad range of behavioral health and medical services for the Skagit County community. Teams based at this site provide adult outpatient and intensive outpatient services, alongside more specialized, community based care through the Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT). The site also supports Designated Crisis Responders (DCRs) and the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT), helping ensure timely, clinically appropriate responses for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. The North YGo Team also has a presence here.
In addition, Compass Health Medical Services are delivered through this site, supporting integrated care coordination and access to medical support as part of a whole person approach. Together, the services at 2nd Street allow Compass Health to support individuals with varying levels of need, from ongoing outpatient care to intensive, wraparound, medical, and crisis response services across Skagit County.
Fir Street
The Fir Street location serves as the home base for Compass Health’s WISe (Wraparound with Intensive Services) team in Skagit County. From this site, staff provide intensive, team-based support for youth with complex behavioral health needs and their families through community based, family-driven services. Psychiatric services are also delivered as part of WISe, supporting integrated treatment and coordination of care for youth and families served through the program.
Fir Street teams work collaboratively with caregivers, schools, and community partners to support stabilization, early intervention, and long-term outcomes, helping children and youth succeed at home, in school, and in their communities.
H.I.M. site
The Health Information Management (HIM) site in Skagit County is home to Compass Health’s HIM team, which plays a vital role in supporting care across all programs and locations. Staff based at this site manage health records and ensure information is handled accurately, securely, and in accordance with regulatory requirements. Their work supports continuity of care, coordination across teams, and timely access to information necessary for clinical, billing, operational, training, and compliance functions. In addition to records management, the HIM department’s scope also includes training and health informatics functions, which are critical to supporting quality, compliance, and system improvement across the organization and ensuring staff have the tools, knowledge, and systems needed to do their work effectively.
While HIM staff are not client facing, their work is essential to the delivery of care across Compass Health. By maintaining the integrity, security, and accessibility of health records, the HIM team helps ensure clinicians and programs have the information they need to support clients and families throughout Skagit County and beyond.
The Skagit HIM site also features a fully hybrid‑functional conference room that comfortably supports meetings for 15 people or fewer and serves as a great gathering space for multi‑county groups. Teams can reserve the space reaching out to Ashlee Harlan and using HIMTAP.
