You probably know First Aid and maybe even CPR – but what if the problem is mental illness?  Do you know how to help?

Mental Health First Aid is a program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.  It is a public education and prevention tool that will improve the public’s knowledge of mental health problems and connects people with care for their mental health problems.
Compass Health is offering this fun, highly interactive course that provides an overview of mental illness and substance use disorders in the U.S. It introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common treatments.

1. The prevalence of mental illnesses in the U.S. and their emotional and economic cost.
2. The potential warning signs and risk factors for depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders.
3. A 5-step action plan to help an individual in crisis and connect them to professional care.
