September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day: How you can help
TW/CW: suicide
Today is Word Suicide Prevention Day; a day to remember those affected by suicide, raise awareness, and focus on directing treatment to those who need it most.
On average, there are 130 suicides a day and is the 10th leading cause of death in the United State. These numbers remind us that having conversations around suicide with the friends and family we care for are more vital now than ever.
#BeThe1To is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline ‘1-800-273-TALK (8255)’ campaign to help spread the word about actions we all can take to prevent suicide. The Lifeline network and its partners are working to change the conversation from suicide to suicide prevention, to actions that can promote healing, help, and give hope.
If you or someone you know needs to talk to someone about suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
